THE DELIBERATION PHASE

In the fall of 2004, the Citizens’ Assembly members decided to recommend a new electoral system that they feel is best for the province. They called it BC-STV.

The Assembly's options, by mandate, were to retain the current system or recommend a single new system.

The rationale for the Assembly’s decision was described in a final report, which was submitted to the people and government of B.C. on 10 December 2004.

The Citizens’ Assembly also drafted a referendum question on the issue, which will go to voters across B.C. in the provincial election of May 2005.

In their "Deliberation Phase," from September through November, members worked towards their final report.

The Assembly and its office began to disband after the delivery of the final report.
