Fifth learning weekend (Day One)

06-MAR-2004 - Assembly members begin Weekend 5 of their six-weekend Learning Phase. Their meetings start at 9 a.m., and end at 4:45 p.m. at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, 580 West Hastings Street, Vancouver. Open to public, but space is limited.

05-MAR-2004 - David Farrell of the University of Manchester, England, speaks on "Voter Satisfaction and Electoral Systems: Does Preferential Voting in Candidate-Centred Systems Make a Difference?" 1 p.m., Buchanan Building Penthouse, UBC campus.   Dr. Farrell is author of the textbook used by the Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform and will visit the Assembly March 6-7.

03-MAR-2004 - Elizabeth McLeay of Victoria University in New Zealand speaks on "MPS and Mixed Member Proportional Electoral Systems: Lessons from New Zealand".  11:30 a.m. SFU Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings in downtown Vancouver. Dr. McLeay will also visit the Citizens Assembly on Electoral Reform on March 6-7.

27-FEB-2004 - Ken Carty, director of research for the Citizens' Assembly, was a panellist at the 2004 Winter Conference of the Canadian Study of Parliament Group, in Ottawa (Centre Block, Parliament Hill). Conference theme: Electoral Reform and its Parliamentary Consequences.

Speech at U of Montreal

13-FEB-2004 - Assembly chair Jack Blaney spoke to a University of Montreal audience as a guest of the university's political science department and the Center for Interuniversity Research in Quantitative Economics. The forum was held at the Pavillon 3200 Jean-Brillant, Montreal, on February 13, 2004.
