Is Assembly membership representative of the diversity of B.C.?

Potential members of the Assembly were randomly selected from the voters list with thought to geographic, age and gender diversity. The aim was to begin with a pool of potential members who were representative of British Columbians. The final selection of members, including two additional members from the Aboriginal population, was done by random draw from that pool. Assembly members are British Columbians, representing all British Columbians.

To support the diversity of Citizens' Assembly members:
  • Members' meetings will be held on weekends because these are the times when most people can meet the needed commitment
  • Childcare and other support services will be offered to members with special needs
  • Members will receive an honorarium of $150 per meeting day
  • All expenses associated with serving on the Assembly will be covered, based on Government of British Columbia rates
