coalitionA coalition is a grouping of two (and occasionally more than
two) political
parties
which work together to win
government
or to increase their
influence in a representative
assembly
. The coalition
parties may indicate before an election that they intend to work
together if they win office, or coalition agreements may be formed
after the election when it is clear that no single party has a
majority of seats. See also
