Citizens' Assembly begins hearings
Members of the Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral
Reform are holding 49 public hearings in communities throughout the
province during May and June to listen to British
Columbians’ views of electoral systems.
The following public hearings are slated for the Lower Mainland
in early May:
May 3, Monday, 6:30-9:30 pm
Vancouver - Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, Asia Pacific Hall, 580 West Hastings Street
May 4, Tuesday, 6:30-9:30pm
Richmond - Vancouver Airport Marriott, Cypress/Blackcomb Rooms, 7571 Westminster Highway
May 5, Wednesday, 6:30-9:30pm
Burnaby - Holiday Inn Metrotown, Ballroom, 4405 Central Boulevard
May 6, Thursday, 6:30-9:30pm
New Westminster - Inn At Westminster Quay, Hyack Room, 900 Quayside Drive
May 8, Saturday, 1:30-4:30 pm
Surrey - Aston Pacific Inn, 1160 King George Highway British Columbians can register to present their views at these
public hearings by contacting the Assembly at (604) 660-1232 or
registering online at
www.citizensassembly.bc.ca. After formal
presentations are complete, and if time allows, audience members
will have the opportunity to discuss their thoughts on electoral
systems.
Having just completed a three-month study of electoral systems,
members of the Assembly are now eager to hear what their fellow
British Columbians have to say.
