CrownThe formal exercise of power by
government
in Canada is carried out
by the governor general and provincial
lieutenant governors
in the name of
the Crown. The Crown is symbolic
head of state
of the Canadian
federation and its provincial components, and reflects the fact
that Canada is a monarchy under Queen Elizabeth II.
