constitutional conventionsConstitutional conventions are accepted practices which
supplement or modify the provisions of formal
constitutional documents
.
It is a constitutional convention, for example, that the
premier
of British Columbia is a
member of the
legislative assembly
, and that the
lieutenant governor
only
dissolves
parliament on the advice of
the premier. See
