Members of the Citizen's Assembly, I commend you for your diligent work in reviewing all issues concerning electoral reform in BC.

I am strongly in favour of a Mixed Member Proportional Representation [MMP] system.

My main concerns are:

  1. I believe British Columbia needs representation from all parties who can achieve at least four or five percent of the popular vote. My conclusion is that this can best be achieved using the Mixed Member Pro Rep system.
  2. I am not concerned about the necessary change in the size of constituencies necessary to implement the Mixed Member Pro Rep system. However, I do not agree that constituencies should be combined to make much larger, many-member constituencies.
Constituencies should be kept approximately as they are now, (although possibly moderately fewer, while moderately larger, to accomodate the 'list' members required in the Mixed Member system).

I urge you to recommend a Mixed Member Proportional Representation system for our province.
