Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting is a sensible system
which is fair as well as being comparatively easy to administer. It
will, of course, leave our current system of one local
representative per riding intact, and achieve
proportionality with a second vote for the preferred party.
British Columbians want a change in the voting system, but when the
referendum occurs, will we be willing to commit to the Single
Transferable Vote [STV], which is more complicated and more
difficult to administer? Surely we need to be offered a system that
seems within the realm of possibility.
Thank you for your work on our behalf: in the deliberation and
decision phase, please choose and recommend MMP for BC.
