I would just like to put in my $0.02 in favour of a blended
Pro-Rep/First-past-the-post system similar to what is found in
Germany or New Zealand [MMP]. While I realize this system does have
its own unique problems and versions of it can be overly complex, I
believe it ultimately does the best job of providing both local
representation, and representation of political and social ideas. A
threshold vote should be required before a party can achieve a seat
in the house.
