One of the biggest problems affecting our electoral system is
the steady increase of women in politics (excluding the last
Federal Election). We all know that women are much better suited to
domestic affairs and finding misplaced items. Therefore I think we
should follow the fine example set by the Maltese. Malta uses the
Single Transferable Vote (STV) system and has the fewest number of
women elected to parliament in the world. Ireland, another country
with STV, also has an enticingly low amount of woment elected.
Clearly these countries see the benefit of keeping women out of
politics. The other submissions supporting STV, almost entirely
entered by men, obviously sympathize with our problem. Therefore, I
fully endorse STV as the best way to keep our political system on
track.
