I would like to see a proportional representation [PR] electoral system adopted in B.C. and across Canada. It is a much more democratic way to elect MLAs and MPs because it has the potential to give more power to each individual's vote. Citizens will be more likely to vote for the party/person that they feel best represents them and less likely to vote 'strategically'.

If people feel that their vote really counts more people will turn out to vote.

The population of B.C. is made up of diverse groups of people with a great diversity of viewpoints and concerns, therefore the government should be made up of a diverse group of representatives not just the members of a single party as is the case in B.C. today.  There is strength and stability in diversity. Any good financial planner will tell you that.

A government that is truly representative may move somewhat more slowly than a one party government but the progress that is made is more likely to be progress that a greater number of people feel good about -- progress that is less likely to be reversed by the next party in power.
