The Finnish regional list system of proportional representation
could be considered for BC. It ensures a large measure
of proportionality coupled with regional equality. [1 page]
Submission Content
The Finnish system of electoral districts ensures both political
proportionality and regional equality. The d'Hondt method, adopted
in the electoral legislation reform of 1906, is used to elect
members from regional lists. This system should be
considered for BC.
After an unexpected result in 1988 under the previous electoral
college system for the President, the
President is now elected by direct vote every
6 years.
