Abstract
Without proportional representation there can be no true democracy. Mixed Proportional Representation [MMP] will encourage many more people to vote; governments will truly represent the citizens. [1 page]

Without proportional representation there can be no true democracy. Canada's present system has resulted in apathy, resentment and injustice. It has enabled parties with fewer than 60% of the votes to occupy more than 90% of the seats in a legislative house. Voters, especially the young, become disillusioned and feel disenfranchised. Mixed Proportional Representation [MMP] will encourage many more people to vote; governments will truly represent the citizens.
