I would definitely like to see the current system of Governing party and Opposition party be replaced by a system that reflects the province's voters' choices [PR].

Example: If the Liberal party gets 35% of the votes, the NDP 25%, the Conservatives 20%, the Greens 15%, and the Heritage party 5% for argument's sake, then ALL parties should be represented in the House proportionally to the votes received.

This way, the 15% of the voters who voted for the Green party would have a 15% representation in the house and, potentially could ally themselves with say the NDP to block a motion by either the Liberals or the Conservatives.

This would lead to a much more balanced approach to governing than what is in place now.

There is a huge flaw with the current system I cannot stress enough. The current system with a single governing and a single opposition party is totally confrontational and not constructive at all. The opposition always opposes whatever the governing party proposes, no matter whether the proposition makes sense or not. It leads to these incredible swings we witness in BC (and it's not much better elsewhere in Canada). This by now ingrained mentality is perpetuated in other jurisdictions like municipalities and the labour market.  It's always this us against them fighting scenario which we can find everywhere; in the private sector, employee against employer, union against corporation, students against teachers, nurses against doctors, doctors and nurses against the government, rural against cities, communities against municipalities, natives against whites, rich against poor and so on.  It has developed into a mentality and an accepted approach to life and it's just not healthy for individuals a focused development of our economy.

Therefore, I strongly support proportional representation so that parties are represented in the House in proportion to their vote.

What is in place now is not much different from a dictatorship.
