Abstract
I favour MMP which is fair in terms of proportional representation; it gives people a vote for a local representative and a vote for the party of their choice.  I do not support the STV because it is too complex. [1 page]

Submission Content
I personally would like to see Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting system for BC.

MMP gives people a vote for a local representative and a vote for the party of their choice.

It is fair in terms of proportional representation. A party gets a share of seats in the legislature proportional to its share of province-wide vote.

It retains local representation, which many British Columbians want. Ridings would have to be slightly larger but voters get two kinds of representatives: a local representative, and party representatives.

I recognize and accept that the riding size might be slightly larger (up to 50% larger). However, in exchange, at least one of my two votes is almost sure to count and I will get fair representation for my political viewpoint with my party vote.

I do not support the Single Transferable Vote (STV) because it is a complex system of geographically big, multi-member ridings with the number of MLAs per riding varying. Typically, big rural ridings have fewer MLAs and urban ridings have more MLAs. The vote-counting system is unnecessarily complex, with voters' second and third choices kicking in until all the seats are filled with candidates who pass a quota (minimum number of votes needed to get elected, which varies according to the number of MLAs to be elected in that riding).

When considering the various submissions please cast my vote for MMP.
