Abstract
Some system of proportional representation should be adopted to deal with the main problems with the current system. These are the problems of wasted votes and strategic voting. [1 page]

I am becoming quite comfortable with the MMP system but I have two comments:

  1. Could you explain clearly whether (a) the list seats alone would be distributed according to the proportion of the parties' share of the vote for the list seats [this is MMM] or (b) the list seats would be assigned so that the combined riding and list seats are distributed according to proportion of the parties' vote for the list seats [this is MMP].
  2. I could support another system as well -- as long as the main problem with the current system is addressed. That is the problem of wasted votes and strategic voting. I think strategic voting of your primary vote is quite undemocratic.
Thanks.
