I support a Mixed Proportional Representation system like
Germany, New Zealand and Scotland. I think a bar of
between 5-8% might also be a good idea.
I believe this MMP system will result in:
Greater voter turnout as people will feel their vote counts.
Government will be more accountable to the electorate.
Voters will be more apt to vote for their first choice, even if
it is a small party, rather than their second choice, which is
often done when people want to "block" their last choice.
This system will prevent "wrong winners" i.e. the Party which
had the support of the majority of the voters (percentage) but not
the majority of the seats, does not form the government.
It will also prevent Oversized governments i.e. where their is
no opposition or it is too small to do its job.
Thank you for the time you are committing to this important
process.
