Abstract
We should adopt a system similar to the United States, where we vote first for a premier (regardless of party tie) and then for representatives in 2 legislatures. Premier, legislature 1, and legislature 2, each having the power of veto. [1 page]

In the British Parliamentary System we now have, when we have a majority government, we in have an elected dictatorship. MLAs now longer vote on bills to represent the people who elected them, but vote to ensure the continuation of the governing party.

We vote, in many cases, for a candidate who represents the party of the person we want as premier, not necessarily the best candidate for our region.

My suggestion therefore is to adopt a system similar to the United States, where we vote first for a premier (regardless of party tie) and then for representatives in 2 legislatures. Premier, legislature 1, and legislature 2, each having the power of veto. This would end the dictatorial attitudes of premiers.

Bills then would have to be very well thought out bafore presentation, and voting would be fair and representatives would be loyal to their constituents rather than to a power weilding premier.
