With the electoral system as is, it discourages voter participation. Many votes are wasted when a large percentage of votes go to a party but the party recieves only a few seats or no seats at all. This is not democratic.

The system I would like to see is Proportional Representation, specifically Mixed Member Proportional (MMP). I believe this system would really cultivate more meaning and interest in politics here in BC. People would have a better chance of being properly represented. This system is already being used in over 70 countries and it has been proven to work well. Pro Rep creates more cooperative governments and long-term stability and vision.
I think electoral reform is badly needed and that low voter turn-out, apathy and general public frustration will continue if our system does not move to Pro Rep.
