The 2004 Federal election pointed out that the present electoral
process is out of date. It favours the two-party system, while the
electorate has shown that we need a system that gives the new
parties some representation in the House of Commons.
The Quebec party represented 12% of the vote and elected 55
members, while the NDP had 15% of the vote and elected 19 members.
The Green Party had 4% of the vote and elected no
members. For new parties to grow they need members in
the House of Commons for experience. Good government requires
experienced members of Parliament. Provincial governments should
also be elected by Proportional Representation [PR].
Thanks for the opportunity to express my views.
