Abstract
I hope that a MMP system would allow more viewpoints to be heard and considered in government decison-making. I do not believe that one party should have the right to govern solely, when so many voters have other values. [1 page]

I favour a mixed member proportional (MMP) form of representation, and a voting system that will provide it.

My reasons: I am tired of having no representation in government for all of the people who did not vote for the "governing" party. I am tired of having parties voted in to absolute power who did not achieve a majority of, or even the most, votes. I do not believe that one party should have the right to govern solely, when so many voters have other values that deserve to be heard and considered in all government decisions.

MMP may very well give rise to minority govenments that must co-operate with other parties. To me, that is an advnatage. I think it would minimize the swings from one type of policy to another with changes in "governing party." Those policy shifts are expensive to us, the taxpayers, and not often representative of what most of us want done with our tax dollars. I hope that a MMP system would allow more viewpoints to be heard and considered in government decison-making, and that it would be less convenient for government to ignore hard science and our future in order to favour short-term economic interests.

I want government that is much more truly representative of the diversity that is one of our strengths as a province. And I want more people to vote; I feel that, when there is real hope of having their views represented in government, more people will vote -- with a MMP system.

Thank you for considering my views
