Abstract
Seats in the Legislative Assembly could be assigned in proportion to a party's share of the vote; seats would be filled by random selection from voters willing to serve as a representative for that party. [1 page]

I am interested in your project and would like to send you my idea for reform which is quite simple and I wonder if anyone else has proposed it. I would call it Randomly Selected Member Proportional Representation.

In it, BC would have 50 MLAs, each elected by 2% of the votes cast. After voting, each voter would have the opportunity to put his or her name into a box belonging to the party of his or her choice if he/she were able and willing to serve as an MLA for that party.  After the number of seats for each party was determined, the parties would each draw the appropriate number from their respective boxes, pooled from across the province. Those people would serve perhaps one two or up to four year term. I think this would solve some of the problems we have with career politicians. I hope the assembly will run with it.
