I could not be at the public hearings but want to let you know
what I consider to be important in your deliberations.
I think a mixed member proportional [MMP] representation system
would best represent the fairness needed in our voting system. It
has worked with good success in other countries.
If we are prepared to change the system we now have, it seems to me
that this system would be the fairest and most representative. We
do not totally have to reinvent the wheel, but since we are so
large a country and so diverse, we need to make sure we adopt a
system that represents us the best. I know this is a provincial
assembly dealing with this most important issue. Nonetheless
what BC develops could quite conceivably become a model
for federal elections too.
Thank you for your consideration.
