I think the reason so few people have made submissions to the
Citizens Assembly is that many like me feel that the way the group
was chosen is the most reasoned and fair it could be and trust
whatever they come up with. It's sort of like trusting a jury of
one's peers in a court case. And we know you are being informed of
all the alternative methods for elections that fit in a democratic
society and look forward to your recommendations.
Is it not true that there will be recommendations? That is, a
choice of options set out in a referendum as part of the next
(after the next - and truly too bad it isn't going to be the very
next) provincial election?
I am very impressed with this whole process and know that many
other countries as well as other Canadian provinces, indeed even
our own federal government is also impressed, and watching to see
how it is being done. I would offer you my full confidence in your
abilities and tell you I trust you implicitly to come up with the
best possible options for us for future elections.
Intent is the thing, and I think that the sum of your intent and
wisdom for good is much greater than your individual parts.
Together you are (to use a modern term) awesome - awe inspiring.
And thank you so much for your time, diligence and hard work. Bless
you all.
