Citizens' Assembly Member Profile

Amanda Medley

AMANDA MEDLEY is a teacher on call in Dawson Creek with a husband and two small children and no time to pursue her hobbies of photography and music. But she jumped at the chance to sit on the Citizens' Assembly. "I want to do something bigger than myself," she says. "On the Assembly I will have a bigger impact than anything that I could do alone. I hope to achieve a better understanding of how votes affect standings in the legislature and then find out if there's a better way or if this is the way to go. I think a small community doesn't have much say right now." She has lived in B.C. all her life although she was born in Jasper, Alberta, because Jasper had the closest hospital to her B.C. home. Her two children are 4-1/2 and 1-1/2 years old. She is teaching her daughter to play the piano
