Mary Jarbek
Mary Jarbek is a resident of Prince George. She was born in Cape
Breton, Nova Scotia, to a family of 13. Mary has lived in BC since
1969 , in Prince George since 1976. Mary is the director of
community relations for the Prince George Child Development Centre
(Cerebral Palsy Association), a former restaurateur (1994-2003),
and, prior to that, a clerk with the BC Land Office. Mary is an
active volunteer: special events director of the Prince George
Community Foundation for six years, director of the Child
Development Centre for 14 years (and for 18 years a CDC volunteer),
past president of the New Caledonia Rotary Club in Prince George,
past president of the B.C. Restaurant Association for North Central
BC (six-year term), director of initiatives, Prince George; and a
member of the Yellowhead Rotary Club. Mary's hobbies include
painting and playing guitar with friends. "Music is a big part of
our family", she adds. Mary sees membership on the Assembly as "a
great chance to be part of something important in B.C."
