The legislature is the law making component of government (see
executive
). In the case
of British Columbia, the legislature is the
legislative assembly
, although it
should be noted that legislation which has passed though the
legislative assembly does not become law until it is assented to by
the
lieutenant governor
. To
this extent, the legislature of British Columbia is the legislative
assembly and the lieutenant governor acting in the name of the
Crown
