coalition

A coalition is a grouping of two (and occasionally more than two) political parties which work together to win government or to increase their influence in a representative assembly .  The coalition parties may indicate before an election that they intend to work together if they win office, or coalition agreements may be formed after the election when it is clear that no single party has a majority of seats. See also majority government .
