Citizens' Assembly Member Profile

Allan McKinnon

ALLAN McKINNON moved to British Columbia as a child from Great Britain. He has lived in Dawson Creek, Castlegar, Vancouver and now resides in Cranbrook with his wife of twenty-five years and two of their three children. He holds a degree in Pharmacy from UBC and an MEd from Gonzaga University (Spokane). Allan is a 'knowledge worker,' employed by UBC as a Drug Information Pharmacist with the BC Drug & Poison Information Centre. As supervisor of databases, he has been telecommuting from his home to the Poison Control Centre in Vancouver for the past decade. Allan enjoys the vigorous outdoors activities offered by the Kootenays, as well as gardening, home maintenance, Land Rover renewal, target shooting, yoga and software development. A long time political watcher, Allan feels the province is "plagued by political extremes." "It bounces back and forth. I'm hoping to bring fairness back into the process," he says. Allan believes that the Citizens' Assembly holds great promise to invigorate democracy in BC.
