I believe that proportional representation is the only way to go.  This system is clearly unfair and failing to represent the wishes of most people and tends to cause us to be constantly boomeranging back and forth between ideologies, most of which appear to become dominated by corporate interest due to the influence of money on campaigns.   The proportional representative system tends to lead to more cooperation and less power struggles because the parties involved realize they will have to negotiate between themselves because they will be working together over the long haul representing the people who elected them.
