Submission Content
We call ourselves a democracy, but often votes from quite a substancial part of the population are swept under the carpet; whenever a party has a majority. The present Liberal government is a case in point. They won the elction, and because of that, governing means to them: supporting friends and ignore the rest of the province. True democracy and true governing, means that various parts of the population (women, old people, children, social programs, education, highways, forests-etc etc etc) are considered and taken care of. The type of voting system which would provide the best reflection of what an electorate wants and needs would be provided in a mixed Member Proportional [MMP] voting system. At least a person's vote would count and mean something.
