I applaud the efforts of those who are investigating changing the first past the post system. From my (admittedly limited) knowledge of other systems, I most prefer the mixed-member proportional representation [MMP] system like they have in New Zealand. It seems to me that having every vote count, while still retaining some measure of regional representation, is very important. And I've heard that MMP has increased voter participation, especially of women and marginalized groups. I hope this option will be given due consideration.
