Submission Content
I would like to ask this assembly to recommend Mixed Member Proportional [MMP] as an election protocol.

My reasons for this are.

1) The current system has failed to give representation to a very substantial part of our population in virtually every election.

2) The current system favors the larger parties that receive large donations from business or union interests.

3) The current system encourages/forces people to vote strategically, a behaviour which I consider close to undemocratic.

4) Voters in BC have flip-flopped from right to left electing government with adversarial positions. This is a very costly and wasteful process and one, which has left many people who, worked to influence government feeling burned out with the ever-changing regulation and policy.

5) A MMP system would reduce the excessive right left politics in BC and encourage more people to vote for whom they really want to vote for.

6) Under our present system a MP often doesn't represent constituents. With a MMP system almost everybody is represented.

7) Vote splitting won't be possible anymore with a MMP system.

8) MMP has worked successfully for many countries and provinces around the world. We have nothing to fear from adopting MMP as it will result in a fairer more balanced Parliament and one that maintains greater continuity though time.
