We must move towards an MMP proportional
representation system in BC. I am a minority in the
sense that I am young and I vote, and everytime I do it feels
hopeless because I know most often my vote will not count. I can
understand why many people, especially in my age group, feel as
though their vote is pointless. In many instances it is, because
our system skews the results so badly that half the population is
left out! No wonder we have a low voter turn out, and it will just
continue to drop if we do not act to reform our system. If we truly
care about democracy we will move towards a pro-rep system in time
for our next election. Make it count.
