Abstract
I am leaning towards some system of proportional representation [PR]. I think that a more balanced, less party oriented, less adversarial system will encourage a wider range of personalities to want to run for office. [1 page]

First thankyou to everyone on the Assembly for taking time out of your life to look at this question seriously.

I simply want to express my support for electoral reform.  I need to do more research, but I am leaning towards some system of proportional representation [PR].

I find the system in place now fosters adversarial, dogmatic political practice.  As a middle of the road person who favours fiscal responsibility, progressive social responsibility (always difficult to manage), along with a sound environmental policy, and enabling reduction in health care costs by encouraging people to have healthy lifestyles, my views are never represented in our legislature.  Politicians have a difficult job governing the province for the citizens.  I think this adversarial system makes it almost impossible for our politicans to work together to manage our resources for the good of the majority of the population.  I also think a more balanced, less party oriented, less adversarial system will encourage a wider range of personalities to want to run for office.  To my mind only a lunatic would become involved in provincial politics these days because it is so nasty.

I look forward to the final conclusion of the Assembly.
