First things first!

Curently the percentage of eligible voters in elections who voted, hovers just above 50%. If a party achieves a 51 % majority in total votes, then the % of voters that voted a party into power is roughly 25 % of the total of eligible voter. The BC Liberal Party garnered 57 % of 55% of the total of eligible voters. Making voting compulsory would reduce lopsided elections and remove the issue of voter apathy.

Lastly, just as people are issued with a social insurance number, voter registration could be automatic, a variety of mechanism could work here ie. a link to drivers licence, medicare SIN etc.
