Submission Content
This is a short submission to urge you to develop an electoral system that provides representation to all citizens, rather than only those who voted for the 'first past the post' party in their riding.  The current situation means that we are continually governed by MLAs that actually received a minority of the total ballots cast. In other words, the wishes of the citizens is actually beiing contradicted by the 'first past the post' system.

The current government of BC has an enormous majority in the Legislature, and yet hundreds of thousands of citizens, currently voiceless, voted against them.  You must empower all citizens with some form of proportional representation [PR].

The threshold for a political party's legitimacy must not be too low, or else you will have the Israeli situation where there are too many tiny political parties who are actually able to hold the balance of power in the necessary coalitions, and thus hold undeserved influence.

Perhaps a combination of 'first past the post' and proportional reperesentation would be best [MMP]. I leave you to decide the precise details, as that is your mandate.

Thanks you for the work you are doing, and thank you for receiving my submission.
