I very much doubt I could support either of the two options you seem to be focusing on as it seems that your goal is to match seats with the popular vote and is based on the assumption that the votes that are being cast now are being cast solely for Parties.

The Canada Election Study of 2000 reveals that 44% of Canadian voters cast their vote based on the individual, http://www.ces-eec.umontreal.ca/ces.html, the article, "Does the local candidate matter?"

I do believe that either a 50/50 MMP system or a STV system would diminish the effectiveness of local representation and the vital ombuds/constituency work of a MLA.

I also believe that the North should be exempted from any change or their voice will be further diminished in the Legislature.

Perhaps if you proposed a less radical change to the system, I might support it. After the intense scurtiny of an election campaign, I very much doubt either of those system will meet the required threshold in the referendum.
