This is just a short note to the Citizen's Assembly on Electoral
Reform. I am a resident of British Columbia and regular voter. I am
disturbed by recent election results (the last two provincial
elections in particular) in which our present first-past-the-post
system results in a dramatic under representation of elected
representatives as based on voter choices. In the election prior to
the Liberal victory, the Liberals won the popular vote but formed
the Opposition. In the victory that brought the Liberals to power,
far more people voted NDP than was reflected in that party's
two-seat showing. I would far prefer to see some system of Mixed
Proportional Representation [MMP] in future
elections.
