It would appear to me that a mixed proportional representation [MMP] electoral system is the common sense appraoch to proportional representation. I believe this exercise is to increase aspects of democracy, therefore anything that does not increase voter turn out will be a wasted effort. My main concern is to have my vote count for something and give myself a reason to vote and care about democracy. Certainly the system we use today does not work effectively for the middle class and below. The system will always appear to be corrupt until elections reflect the will of the people. The STV system looks to be similiar to our present system which reminds me of a STD (sexually transmitted disease). Our present system is pure crap (to be polite) and the STV system has too many similarities to the present system. Hopefully this assembly does the honourable thing and put democracy into government for the first time in Canadian history. I feel the only way to do this is through proportional representation!
