I writing to express my support for some sort of proportional representation [PR] election system.

The current system or anything remotely similar is just not acceptable in a so-called democratic system.

For the last three and one-half years we have been force fed policy changes and legislation that are the spawn of a government who are able by virtue of their overwhelming majority, assert their will unchecked by any opposition.

If this imbalance was in place as a result of the wishes of the majority of citizens of British Columbia, one could say this is what the people want. Of course this is not the case. The system we have in place does not result in a accurate reflection in terms of who winds up with a seat in relation to how the votes were cast.

This situation must change. The Liberal government is constantly falling back on the rationalization that "they have been given a clear mandate for change" (as evidenced by their majority). Consequently no matter what they come up with they believe the people of BC are behind them. This does not reflect reality.
