The first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system is a remnant of the 19th century. FPTP was meant for a two-party political system. The first-past-the-post system is not suitable for BC because we in BC currently support more then two political parties.

Recent elections have made all too clear that BC requires an electoral system that will deal with the fact that BC has evolved into a multi-party system.

Personally I believe that the MMP electoral system used in countries such as New Zealand and Germany is the best system for multi-party political systems.

Also, I would suggest a small improvement to the MMP system that would make it even more suitable for our multi-party political system. Under the MMP system, constituency seats should be allocated through the use of the alternate vote (AV). AV or the "instant runoff vote" ensures that constituency representatives are supported by the majority of the people in their respective constituencies.
