Abstract

I would support a Mixed Member Proportional [MMP] Representation
system. This seems to me to be the best compromise that provides a
degree of proportionality while still retaining a representative
for a geographic area. [1 page]

Thank you for the incredible work the Assembly is doing to
clarify the various types of voting systems available around the
world.
Having read the material, and attended one of your information
sessions, I would support a Mixed Member Proportional [MMP]
Representation system. This seems to me to be the best compromise
that provides a degree of proportionality while still retaining a
representative for a geographic area. However I am concerned that
even within MMP the election of the representative still appears to
be by the "first past the post" system. I leave this problem for
you to debate and resolve.
I am impressed by your commitment to this electoral reform process
and look forward to hearing your final recommendation.
