It is a strong belief of mine that democracy is not currently being practiced in this country (or this province) at this time. The lack of proportional representation of voters in the current parlimentary and legislative assembely systems are appalling. Riding boundaries are often redrawn to the advantage of the ruling party, and serve to disenfranchise those who are already marginalized. The result is that it is not the people who are electing our government, but those who draw the riding boundaries that have the real power.

Although the US system is vastly different from ours there are some similarities, the US electoral college casts the votes on behalf of each state (another disproprtional sysytem) -- which, as we have seen in the last US election, led to the installation of a president that was not approved by the citizens'popular vote, and who has taken extreme liberties promoting his minority agenda to the detriment of the entire world.

Please let everyone's voice be heard -- otherwise we do not have a democracy, but an oligarchy of the elite looking out for their own interests above those of the people they are supposed to represent and serve. A system of proportional representation, such as the Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system is the only real choice for true democratic process. Thank you for your consideration.
