Submission Content
After taking a political science class two years ago on political systems (which included electoral systems) of several different countries around the world, I began to see the flaws in our current system and realize that there are alternatives. As the Federal election approaches the flaws in the current first past the post electoral system are more apparent then ever. I find it disheartening to hear many people say "I would vote for _____ if they had a chance, but instead I'm going to vote strategically." Which usually means they will vote for one of the two major parties. To me democracy is about giving the citizens a voice and our current electoral system only allows for two voices and opinions to be heard (currently it seems that only the Liberals have a voice). This is not representative of the people in our province and their varying viewpoints. No wonder voter turnout is so low.

I am in favour of a mixed proportional [MMP] system that will allow for wider representation of the citizens in parliament.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to finding out what you recommend.
