In my understanding of the forms of electoral reform being
proposed I have come to endorse the Mixed Member Proportional
system. The reason for this being that when a party comes into
office they can push an agenda leaving very little room, if any,
for opposing positions. The MMP system would ensure consideration
of a wider variety of citizens' concerns and generally providing a
voice for a broader section of the population. The current
situation we're in now does is not the recipe for a healthy
democracy as evidenced by a wide degree of voter apathy and
political alienation.
