If proportional representation [PR] gets the voter
off the seesaw of polarized politics, then I'm all for it.
One thing I would suggest, regardless of what form government
takes, is that there should be a core group of services such as
health care, ferry services, publicly owned utilities, schools, and
government services such as those provided by members of the BCGEU,
that are protected from interference by the government of the day.
In other words, we the voters would enshrine in law the idea that
these services shall not be open to any changes by the government.
Only the voters may make such changes, and only with a large (ie,
75%) majority.
No government, of any political stripe, should be
able to destroy the things that we hold dear.
