However elected, there should be some mechanism that allows
candidates and parties to post (for public review) legally binding
promises of performance, with clear consequences. Our current
system rewards deceit, leaving voters only to choose between liars.
Politicians should be held accountable AT LEAST as much as job
applicants misrepresenting their abilities or sellers
misrepresenting their products or services. Perhaps use the BC
Trade Practice Act as a starting model.
