What an exciting opportunity for the people of B. C. to have a
Citizen's Assembly! This is certainly democracy at work
and I thank you for your commitment to this process.
The topic of democracy itself has been on my mind for a very long
time. I have always been told that we live in a
wonderful democracy but why then have I always felt entirely left
out? Occasionally I have voted but very
discontentedly. No one was close enough to representing
my voice so that it was more an exercise in voting against
someone whom I really didn't want to be in
government.
More recently I have found a party that truly reflects many of my
values. Being a relatively small party it is very
difficult for anyone to get elected from that party.
Though I am supportive of the party I still don't get very involved
in "democracy" because it is next to impossible to actually be
represented in government. Why bother?
Please make it possible for me to fully participate in a true
democracy! On reviewing the options I find the New
Zealand [MMP] model the most appealling. This option
would make it possible for myself and others like me to get
involved.
Thanks for your consideration.
